St Matthew’ s Primary School premises have been in redevelopment and The Place Where We Stand draws on the discovery of human remains at the school by builders on Halloween 2012. 13 human remains dating from 1837 were excavated. The findings of Oxford Archaeology East’s analysis of the site indicate non-conformist burials.
To communicate and explore the nature of this discovery, a series of workshops were planned that engaged all year groups within the school, using an interdisciplinary approach throughout. Specialists in subjects included archaeology, history and music. The Place Were We Stand @ St Matthew's culminated with a final public performance in the school grounds involving the children and wider school community. It took place in March 2018
